about

Matt Goddard has become a firm favourite on Death Proof Recordings and it would seem just as appreciated by our fans and the DJs who play our work. His last effort, "Boxed", sits pleasingly in our top releases and has been played to many a mass of techno appreciators via names like Harvey McKay, The Advent, Mikael Jonasson & Umek to name a few.

"Thaus" has ensured the quality persists with this singular providing as much power and depth a true techno classic would need. A spiky kick and undulating bass start proceedings, patiently rising with a distant detuned synth. All this leads to an alarm like synth stab and warm mid range which immediately dictates the roll and thump. Frenetic hats then pierce constantly whilst Matt's signature use of width and atmosphere allow ethereal vocals and fx to cut through.

On remix duties, we see a true trailblazer of electronic music take over; James Harcourt (Twisted Frequency) is a name synonymous for some timeless remixes for well over a decade, from Sasha favourite "H2O" by Jamie McHugh on Underwater Records to Nick Muir's "G Platz" for Dave Seaman's Audio Therapy imprint. He's ensured the same quality persists in the remix of "Thaus"; a kick-led start accompanies the unmistakable stab from the original, then in with a thump comes the bass and a beastial growl of a constant saw-synth, which carries through the track perfectly. Its build sets the tone as elements drop and punch around it, from disjointed drumlines to reverbed fills, all slowly growing until your fist pumps the air with sheer abandon.

Winners.
