It's been a long while since Steve Abraham made his last mark on DPR; since that initial slab of rawkous techno (T-Time), he's been honing his production skills even further, stripping everything back to warm analog acid and disjointed house and techno.
'Mercury' epitomises his new outlook: a throbbing acid house drumline accompanies quirky arpeggiated synths and cathedralesque organ stab arrangement.
'In Your Teeth' bares the canines it suggests: another healthy drumline leads into a truly dreamy acid element with glass like synths washing througout.
Last but not least, 'SL' keeps the acidic tendencies going: a touch more ferocity and disjointed work on the beats and more growl through the now undeniable acid brings the original work to the perfect close.
Providing their own touch to 'Mercury' is the unmistakable dark overtones of Italian producer Johnny Aemkel [Divided] and Death Proof owner Paul Blandford.
Johnny's efforts see him applying what he does best, a well executed, basement-ready, dark slab of acidic techno with new synth work that throbs throughout and simplistic use of the emersive fx.
Paul's rethink brings an organic, groove-laden feel to proceedings, the house-come-techno remix uses the unmistakable punch of the organs and brings the hidden vocals of the original to the fore in well placed stabs.
